25 June 2021

CAN has revealed its competition proposal for Lotte Port Mall in Incheon, Korea – an integrated urban regeneration scheme redefining new trends of urban living in Incheon.

With a transit-oriented approach, the design explores the future of commerce and urban living through revitalising Incheon Bus Terminal Complex and Shinsegae Department Store. The design proposes a brand-new experiential commercial hub and public spaces for seamless transportation links.

Fully respect the characteristic lifestyle of Incheon area, deeply interpret the development of the core of Incheon city, and actively explore the close relationship between future commercial development and urban life. The CAN team interprets urban space from a macro scale, sorts out the relationship and functions of surrounding plots, organizes the multi-dimensional pedestrian flow relationship between underground, ground, and above ground, and at the micro level, through the diversified layout of sections, it is committed to creating a multi-dimensional Lotte Port Mall.

The green public space extending to the roof is organically combined with the roof of the building to provide a variety of outdoor leisure and entertainment activities. While the building is renovated, it provides more landscape space for the urban space, allowing nature to continue in multiple dimensions in the city.

“We hope to transform the traditional customer experience in retail and provide a new lifestyle and commercial offering in Incheon. Multi-level circulation paths with the TOD strategy capture the pedestrian flow from adjacent sites and the neighbourhoods. The design is set to become an urban living destination that integrates commerce, culture, and leisure, “ said Stephen Chow, Managing Director at CAN.
