CAN reveals an urban design competition scheme of Renmin Road commercial block in Longhua’s super commercial area. The competition scheme was designed in collaboration with CAPOL International & Associates Group, AECOM, and Cushman & Wakefield. The proposal addresses the strong industrial foundation of Longhua and core spots, leading the Longhua district to stand out in the new wave of digital transformation. Longhua is one of the three creative hubs in Shenzhen, which is expected to transform into a digital economy pilot zone in the next decade to attract more digital talents according to the 14th Five-Year Plan. As one of the six key areas in Longhua District, Longhua Super Commercial Zone is Longhua super commercial area is an important node on Shenzhen\u2019s central development axis, with strong future development potential. Longhua District is launching the all-round future city scene experiment, another important innovation building Shenzhen into a socialism pilot demonstration area and global benchmark city. The design is based on the core positioning of \u201cDigital Pulse City\u201d, aiming to improve the accessibility and spatial layout of Longhua and optimize the inefficient urban textures with the diversity of urban functions and smart communities. It is set to be developed into a municipal core commercial area and a world-class consumer experience center. <\/p>\n\n

The design uses \u201cthe Pulse\u201d as the key design concept, resembling the pulse amplitude, a rhythm of life triggered by the digital world and the natural environment. The design creates four new identities for Longhua: a \u201ca spot for local micro-tourism\u201d, \u201ca showcase for digital art\u201d, \u201ca cascading forest living room\u201d and \u201ca future urban model\u201d. With twelve placemaking strategies, the scheme addresses existing issues by injecting vibrant vitality, leading the pulse of the city, and enhancing the humanistic experience. The scheme leverages a variety of strategies to create the most vibrant urban landmark in Longhua, including thematic businesses that link the north and south of the Renmin Road area, two continuous urban interfaces and street spaces are created to provide a variety of businesses and visitor experiences. To make Longhua a systematic carrier for weekend urban recreation activities in the Greater Bay Area, the design features accessible green corridors to enhance the quality of the street touring and running north-south to create desirable yet accessible tourism micro-clusters. The city\u2019s industrial eco-chain integrates a highly complex \u201cindustry-business-tourism-residence\u201d development zone, creating a distinctive project scene of virtual reality and improving the district’s digital infrastructure.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The scheme envisages that the multiple TOD nodes will take on the cross-regional footfall of the international logistic hub, forming an important vibrant urban core for business, offices and commerce. With the completion of the future railway line at Longhua, a space with multiple nodes will be created, seamlessly linking underground, ground, and above-ground levels.
